For more stubborn stains it's important to use the correct product:
If dirt is thick, crusty or solid, it must be carefully removed using a spoon or spatula before attempting to use any water or cleaner. Avoid using a knife, as this could be dangerous. Scrape off as much as possible and rub gently from the outside edge of the stain to the center to prevent spreading the stain.
For stains such as ballpoint ink, pencil and crayon; these should be removed immediately using a cloth dampened in rubbing alcohol. For chewing gum or grease, you need to use cleaning naphtha.
For more difficult stains that are only surface deep, the use of a stronger detergent such as a non-abrasive household cleaner or isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol is recommended.
