Introducing SEAQUAL

Share

Like most of today’s business powerhouses Brentano began in a garage. Officially launched in 1990 by E-Kwan Chen, CEO and Artistic Director Iris Wang, The Brentano Design Studio has grown from a modest eight patterns in 1990, into an international source for residential, hospitality and commercial fabrics for both upholstery and drapery. The range has expanded to include luxurious vegan leathers, sophisticated indoor/outdoor choices, dynamic stain resistant and easy clean finish options, as well as a beautiful collection of eco-friendly textiles. Today, Brentano’s expansive collection of textiles now has over 250 patterns, all stemming from Wang's philosophy of balancing beauty + performance.

Brentano are always striving for new and initiative sustainable options, this brand focus takes a closer look at their newest collaboration with the SEAQUAL INITATIVE.

SEAQUAL IMAGE

SEAQUAL INITIATIVE works with NGOs, fishermen, authorities and local communities to help clean our oceans. Marine litter from our beaches, ocean floor and surface, rivers and estuaries, is collected by clean-up programs. It is then sorted into different material types and the plastic portion is cleaned and transformed into Upcycled Marine Plastic. Environmentally conscious brands and manufacturers then transform this new, fully traceable raw material into inspiring sustainable products for every aspect of our lives. Consumer purchasing power is one of the most powerful tools for change. In choosing products containing Upcycled Marine Plastic, you are helping to clean our oceans.

TOGETHER FOR A CLEAN OCEAN.

SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC

A NEW, FULLY TRACEABLE RAW MATERIAL WITH THE POWER TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE ISSUE OF MARINE LITTER AND HIGHLIGHT THOSE HELPING TO FIGHT IT

Marine litter from our beaches, found on the ocean floor and surface, or entering our oceans via rivers and estuaries is collected by clean-up programs. It is then sorted into different material types. The plastic portion is cleaned and transformed into SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC at SEAQUAL INITIATIVE approved facilities. It is then returned to industry to be transformed into beautiful, new, sustainable products.

Transforming marine litter into SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC:

  • Prevents marine litter from being sent to landfill or incinerated
  • Creates awareness of the problem of marine litter
  • Gives visibility to those people and organizations helping to clean our oceans

SEAQUAL® YARN is a high quality 100% post-consumer recycled polyester yarn containing SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC from SEAQUAL INITIATIVE. SEAQUAL® YARN contains approximately 10% Upcycled Marine Plastic and 90% post-consumer plastic from land sources. Upcycled Marine Plastic is made from marine litter retrieved from our oceans, beaches, rivers and estuaries. SEAQUAL® YARN is almost identical in physical properties to virgin polyester and is available in a variety of sizes and finishes (both in continuous filament and staple fibre).
