Pollack is a boutique design company that specializes in unique and innovative designs by using a large, varied toolbox of artistry, fibre contents, yarns and weaving techniques.
The company got its start 30 years ago, when founders Mark Pollack, Rick Sullivan and Susan Sullivan launched a memorable collection of 22 textile designs targeted to the high-end interiors market. Since then, the line has flourished and expanded into the contract, residential and hospitality markets, as a more decorative aesthetic was combined with the company’s solid technical foundation. The wide-ranging collection is celebrated for fabrics that easily cross the lines of these individual segments–fabrics marked by sophisticated design, intricate construction, nuanced colour palettes and timeless style. All constructed in partnership with specialized mills from around the world, carefully selected based on their expertise and capabilities.
Pollack merged operations with Weitzner Limited, a highly regarded wallcovering company known for its innovative designs, in 2011. With a worldwide following, Pollack remains a privately held company and employs approximately 70 people in its New York City headquarters and showroom and its Jersey City, NJ, warehouse.
Today, Pollack continues to thrive under the next generation of executives—all long-term veterans of the company—including Rachel Doriss, VP and Design Director, who took the helm of the design studio in 2011, and Susan Whalen, who was appointed President in 2017 and CEO in 2022.
Meet the new line of prints and embroideries from Pollack’s design team: Spring Street. Taking their wealth of textile expertise—from their studio’s quintessential eye for design and colour, to its unparalleled knowledge of textile construction, to its access to the best mills and artisans in the world—and infused it into a new collection for the home.
Captivated by the colors and patterns of our surroundings, the inaugural collection creates a connection to nature through painterly motifs and nuanced hues. Each pattern captures the hand of the artist, balancing casual geometry and organic forms in an accessible and easy-to-use range of designs.
Pollack’s collection of Indoor + Outdoor fabrics pays homage to the great outdoors by combining outdoor performance qualities with fresh hues. And while ease of care is an important consideration for the outdoors, it is clearly appreciated indoors as well—think kitchens, family rooms, summer bungalows and children’s rooms—anywhere, in fact, that will benefit from our stylish combination of complex design, contemporary palette and comfortable hand. In order to uphold the durability and versatility that our modern lifestyle calls for, many of the fabrics in our Indoor + Outdoor collection are made of Sunbrella Contract yarns and Bella Dura yarns. Whichever of these performance fabrics you choose, they’ll always look great both indoors and out.
Sensuous and spare, PURE highlights natural fibres—think wool, cotton, linen—and focuses on nuanced texture over colour and pattern. Consistent with all our textiles, an inventive use of materials and innovative weaves results in unexpected structures and surfaces. The visual restraint of these textiles is such that they ask to be combined and layered with one another. Yet PURE invites not just a combination of fabrics, but a fusion of lustrous with matte, smooth with textured, opaque with transparent, elegant with rustic. Which is to say, as subtle as this collection may be, it also offers a broad range of design expressions.
Pollack’s textiles have always been known for combining our signature style with expert craftsmanship, producing visually stunning designs that employ hard working, long wearing constructions. Usability has always been paramount, and most especially in our High Performance / Bleach Cleanable category. These fabrics address the durability and maintenance needs of the most demanding installations, ones that occur in all areas of our market—residential, contract and hospitality.
The Pollack Hospitality collection is a curated mix of the perfect textures, colours and patterns that brilliantly combine a first-class look with the performance and price that the hospitality market demands.
These fabrics blend seamlessly with Pollack signature high-end textiles, which can be mixed in as is, or the Pollack design team will expertly re-engineer them to accommodate the specifics of a particular project, from custom colours to budget constraints.
